The Coptic Orthodox Church
The Coptic Orthodox Church is one the oldest churches in the world. It was established in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ by St. Mark, the Evangelist and Apostle, who is also the author of the second gospel in Alexandria, Egypt in the year 61 A.D.
The word "Copt" means Egyptian. Copts are the native Christians of Egypt and the direct descendants of the ancient Egyptians who were converted to Christianity by St. Mark. HH Pope Tawadros II is the 117th Successor of St.Mark the Evangelist and Pontiff of the Coptic Orthodox Church. |
Who is Saint Mina?
St. Mina, the Martyr and Wonder-Worker is one of the most well-known Coptic saints in the East and West due to the many miracles attributed to his prayers for us.
He was born of Christian parents who brought him up to be a devout Christian. He received the crown of martyrdom in 309 A.D. His feast day is celebrated every year on 24th of November. |
